BYU is working to encourage students to leave their cars at home when they come to campus. For example, in 2011 BYU teamed up with Hertz-on-Demand to give students the ability to travel outside of Provo, take a last minute road trip, run errands, or visit friends without having their own car.
Currently, we have four vehicle stations at campus locations convenient to our student residences. Car rental rates start at just $9.50 an hour, or $70.00 per day, plus tax. It’s simple and there are no membership or sign up fees! These rates include gas, insurance, GPS navigation, and 24-hour road side assistance. To qualify for the car sharing program, students must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license. Please be aware that it takes 5-7 days from the date of registration before you will be able to rent a car. Registration only needs to be done once, after which cars may be reserved 6 months to 15 minutes in advance.
After registering for the program you will receive a key fob/card in the mail. To activate your fob/card you must bring it and your valid driver’s license to BYU Purchasing and Travel located in C-40 ASB.
