Campus-wide devotionals and fora to inspire earthly stewardship
The Covenantal Journey of Disciple-Scholarship
“The earliest evidence of our personal life mission will be those people or problems that the Spirit draws us towards," said Rick Gill, dean of undergraduate education, on July 9, 2024. "Well before choosing a profession, we will feel the Spirit showing us individuals, communities, problems, or issues that need our help. This might be around topics of the family, how to heal others, civility and society, sustainability, poverty alleviation, educational access, or myriad other areas. For each of us, our arena of service should be personal and purposeful."
"We are commanded to care for the Lord’s creations and be wise stewards over them," said Loreen Allphin, associate dean of the BYU College of Life Sciences, on April 4, 2023. "Because I have benefitted so greatly from the divine Creation, I truly want to be a good steward over it."
“The bottom line is clear," said Katharine Hayhoe, chief scientist for the Nature Conservancy, on November 29, 2022. "Caring about God’s creation is a faithful acceptance of our responsibility, and it is a true expression of God’s love.”
On October 25th, 2022, ethnobotanist and former BYU dean Paul Alan Cox said, “By exploring nature’s 'curiosity cabinet,' we can not only increase our sense of wonder of the earth but also discover truths that can help solve some of the world’s most serious problems.”
